Personally, I love to be outside and am an avid hiker, biker, bird watcher and basically enjoy anything to do with the natural world.

As Coordinator of Religious Education, it is my hope to partner with teachers, parents, and parishioners to help our children grow in faith, the knowledge of God's love, and to celebrate God's love in the sacraments and in their daily lives.

All School Mass

Mass is offered every week. Kindergarten begins attending the all school Mass in October. Grades 1–8 attend Mass twice a week and assume active liturgical roles. Students celebrate their Baptismal Birthdays on the third Thursday of each month. Students can invite parents, grandparents, or godparents to attend this special Mass with them.

Sacrament Preparation

Beginning in 2nd grade, students prepare for Reconciliation and First Holy Eucharist. Confirmation takes place in 8th grade. We partner closely with parents in preparation for these very important celebrations.

Bible Ceremony

At a special Mass each year, every 6th grade student receives a personalized Bible that is blessed by Father so they can use it within their studies over the course of junior high.

Evangelization

The school community seeks to assists organizations that need support. These organizations have included Whole Kids Outreach, St. Vincent DePaul Society, South Side Early Childhood Center, Our Lady's Inn, and John Cochran VA Medical Center.

Altar Servers

Beginning in 4th grade and continuing through 8th grade, students have the opportunity to participate in mass as an altar server. These students assist with both parish and school Masses.

Special Celebrations

The students take an active part in Living Rosary, Baptismal Celebration Masses, Stations of the Cross, and many more.

Retreats & Days of Reflection

Our school provides unique opportunities for students to strengthen their Catholic Identity and to foster personal awareness of God’s plan for their lives through retreats and days of reflection.

ProtectingGod'sChildren/SafeEnvironmentTraining

  • Important All volunteers need to successfully complete the mandated Archdiocesan Protecting God's Children/Safe Environment Training. Before signing up for lunch duty/recess duty, field trips, etc., volunteers must have this completed. Please use the following link to find the complete information from the church website: mandated training information. Please direct questions to our parish secretary and Child Safety Coordinator, Eileen Garavaglia, at 314-353-6303 Ext. 110 or garavagliae@stgabrielstl.org.

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to the Zaleski-Clark Family members who were welcomed into the church at Easter Vigil! Connor and Beckham Clark were baptized at Mass and Beckham received his First Communion. We are grateful for their family!

Please keep our 2nd graders and their families in your prayers as the students prepare to receive their First Communion.

Our 7th grade students continue with their Southside Early Childhood service project. Please continue to keep them in your prayers as they serve at this important site that serves families with infants to preschoolers.

At our first all school Mass after Easter, this Thursday, April 24, Rice Bowls will be collected during the Offertory at Mass. Please be generous.

From a Letter from CRS:

“Today more than ever, our societies need ‘artisans of peace’ who can be messengers and authentic witnesses of God the Father, who wills the good and the happiness of the human family.”

—Pope Francis, 1936-2025

It is with deep sorrow that we at Catholic Relief Services extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis. If there was ever an “artisan of peace,” it was Pope Francis. His unwavering commitment to compassion, justice and the dignity of every human being has left an indelible mark on the world.

In this time of mourning, we join the global Catholic community in prayer and reflection, honoring the legacy of a remarkable man who led with humility and love.

“Love for the poor has been the sign, the light that draws people to give glory to the Father.”

—Pope Francis, 1936-2025

Pope Francis' love for the poor was evident in his actions and words, which align with the values of CRS. His leadership and advocacy for people in need has been a guiding light for the Catholic community. His dedication to social justice, environmental stewardship and interfaith dialogue has inspired us all to strive for a more just and compassionate world.

His encyclicals—Laudato Si', which calls us to care for our common home and emphasizes the urgent need for environmental stewardship, and Fratelli Tutti, which inspires us to foster fraternity and social friendship and urges us to build a world where all people are treated with dignity and respect—reflect his legacy.

We pray for the repose of Pope Francis’ soul and that he is welcomed into the loving arms of the Lord God. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace."

Prayer of Saint Augustine

Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, That my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit, That my work, too, may be holy. Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, That I love but what is holy. Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, To defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, That I always may be holy.
