A Note from the Principal
You may have heard that over the weekend there was a possible threat made by a student towards another archdiocesan school. Our school is NOT the affected school in this case.
Police were contacted immediately and are taking this alleged threat seriously. The affected school is cooperating fully in the investigation to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We do not anticipate any disruptions to school functions due to their investigation into this matter.
Be assured that the safety of our students and staff in our school is our top priority.
Because of recent events, as well as incidents and threats of violence in schools in recent years, we want parents to know that any talk of threats of violence, especially involving references to firearms or explosives, will be taken seriously and reported to law enforcement for further action.
We encourage you to have a discussion with your child/ren to let them know that these are not matters for jokes or idle chatter on social media or any other medium. For safety’s sake, we will treat any comment as a real threat. We will err on the side of the safety of our students and school community. Unfortunately, these are the times in which we live.
We are required to do a certain amount of safety drills each year, including tornado, earthquake, fire and intruder drills. We practice these with each class individually and then have a drill as an entire school. Next week we will participate in the statewide tornado drill on Tuesday. This spring we will have an intruder drill, which will be supervised by local law enforcement, and we will notify you ahead of time that it is coming so you can support your students at home since we know this can cause some anxiety for some students.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
We are so proud of our students who performed at the Band Festival at DuBourg this past week. They did an excellent job and should be proud of their efforts and performance! Thank you also to all the parents who came and cheered them on.
Congratulations also to all of the students who performed at the Science Bowl at Washington University this past weekend! They showed incredible growth over last year’s performance and all did a wonderful job!

If you register by March 27th (before Spring Break), the registration fee is $50 per student. Ensuring all students are registered in the spring helps us make important staffing and other financial decisions, therefore as of April 9th (after Spring Break), the registration fee is $100 per student. Again, the increase in April is to encourage families to register in a timely manner so we can base numerous decisions on accurate numbers. The registration fee is nonrefundable.
If you have an outstanding balance on your tuition for the current year, your registration for the 2018-2019 school year will be held until your balance is paid. Additionally, you will not be able to view second-trimester report cards, which open on Friday, until your balance is paid. Please contact Joan Miller in the rectory at 314-353-6303 ext. 121 if you have any questions.
Principals for the Day
Attention all students and teachers!
At the auction last year, the Ortwerth Family received one of the “Principal for the Day” packages. The Ortwerth Family is giving students and teachers special privileges for the day on Friday, March 2nd, 2018. The privileges are as follows:
- All students and teachers may dress down in pajamas! Everyone can wear their favorite, school appropriate pj’s to school on Friday. Onesies, shorts, and sandals/flip flops are not allowed.
- All students may bring a minimal amount of candy, i.e., candy bar, small bag or one piece of candy, etc. to eat during a time designated by the classroom teacher!
- All students can take off their shoes for one class period!
- (8R), (7K), (4S) and (KM) homerooms will get extra recess!
We send our best wishes to the Ortwerth’s as they get an insight into what it means to be a principal.
Good luck and enjoy the day!

LAST DAY – Financial Aid for 2018-2019 School Year
The deadline for Beyond Sunday, SOAR!, Catholic Families Tuition Assistance (CFTA), and the Parish Employees Endowment Fund (PEEF) is today, February 28th, 2018!
Any family who would like to be considered for these programs, even if they are applying for requalification for one of these scholarships, must apply by this deadline. Please note that the income a family has listed on the application must be supported by all required documentation and confirmed by the TTEF scholarship office as eligible in order for an application to be considered complete.
Students already receiving Alive! In Christ (AIC) or Help for Today, Hope for Tomorrow (HTHT), are still eligible for requalification if the complete, eligible application is submitted after February 28th. However, the family will not be considered for any of the scholarships listed above and funding for siblings in AIC and HTHT may be exhausted after the deadline. The deadline for all requalification applications for AIC and HTHT is May 1st, 2018.
They are currently experiencing a high volume of calls, which they anticipate will continue through the months of February and March. Please use the Forgot Password tool on the Family Log In page if you need yours reset and use the tutorials available on our website under Scholarships – Info for Parents.
