Registration for current families will be open until February 19th.  Open enrollment for new families will begin on February 20th.  Please fill out and return your registration forms and fees by February 20th so you are guaranteed a spot for your child(ren).

When you return the form, please include the full registration fee.  If you register by March 27th (before Spring Break), the registration fee is $50 per student.  Ensuring all students are registered in the spring helps us make important staffing and other financial decisions, therefore as of April 9th (after Spring Break), the registration fee is $100 per student.  Again, the increase in April is to encourage families to register in a timely manner so we can base numerous decisions on accurate numbers.  The registration fee is nonrefundable.

If you have an outstanding balance on your tuition for the current year, your registration for the 2018-2019 school year will be held until your balance is paid.  Additionally, you will not be able to view second-trimester report cards until your balance is paid.  Please contact Joan Miller in the rectory at 314-353-6303 ext. 121 if you have any questions.

It’s time to send your Boxtops to school! Last Fall we made $868.70, let’s try to increase that amount. It’s so easy to make extra cash for our school, just cut those Boxtops off participating items instead of just throwing them away with your trash! We will be mailing them in February 26th, so send them in now!!!

Thank you for all your help in this easy fundraiser!!!

Questions?? Call Lynne Kirner: 314-353-2438

This program has been discontinued, so you no longer need to save them!!

Amendments to Parent Handbook

SGAA has requested that SGAA-issued uniforms not be worn on dress down days at school, as doing so causes more wear on these items and they are not easily replaced.  Because the uniforms are SGAA property, we have amended the Out of Uniform policy to respect their wishes.  Additionally, smart watches and the ability to text, watch videos, and play games on them have become an issue in classrooms.  We have updated the list of electronic devices that are not allowed to include smart watches.  The updated language is in red below and will be included in the Parent Handbook.

The possession and use of cell phones and other electronic devices (for example, smart watches, i-Pods or other handhelds) by students on St. Gabriel the Archangel School premises during school hours is prohibited.

If a student must carry a cell phone or other electronic device for use outside of school hours the device must be kept in the student’s backpack in the off position. The school is not responsible for any damage to the device or loss of the device.

If a student is using a cell phone or other device during the school or it rings in his or her backpack disrupting class, the phone or device will be given to the Principal and kept in the office. To receive it back, a parent must pick up the phone or device from the main office.

Out of uniform days may, at the administration’s discretion, be any of the following. Please pay attention to the out of uniform date announcement for the correct type of out of uniform day:

The uniform is not required, but the criteria below for tops, bottoms, socks and shoes must be

Students must wear uniform bottoms (pants, shorts, skirt or jumper), but non-uniform tops may be

worn instead of (or over) uniform tops, following the criteria for tops below.

Certain out of uniform days may be themed (for a holiday, to celebrate the Cardinals or Blues, etc), and

on those days there may be additional criteria relating to that theme, so please pay attention to the

announcements of those days.

The administration may, in its discretion, announce “St. Gabe’s Spirit” Add-On days. On these days,

students may wear tops

(a) related to any St. Gabriel the Archangel team or other school-sponsored club such as Chess Club, Robotics Team, Scouts, Band and SGAA sports teams (but not other teams such as AJAX) or

(b) with any St. Gabriel the Archangel school or parish logo or design, including Spirit Wear

items available from our supplier.

St. Gabe’s teams and clubs may request permission to have a special Add-On day on which only their

student-members may be allowed to wear a team or club jacket, shirt or other item as a way to celebrate a particular accomplishment.

SGAA-issued uniforms are SGAA property and are not permitted to be worn for any out of uniform day.

2.        Thank You!

PFA would like to extend a huge “Thank you” to all the volunteers who made the Catholic Schools Week a success! We had 5th grade room coordinators who planned and executed the DQ/LeGrands lunch (with some help from parents from other grades), 4th grade room coordinators who planned and executed the DQ ice cream, 1st grade room coordinators who planned and executed the staff appreciation lunch, and K room coordinators who worked with the St. Gabriel staff to execute the parent appreciation event. We are so thankful for all the volunteers who make St. Gabriel such an exceptional school and community.
