A Note from the Principal

Dear families,

We want to keep you in the loop on two of our faculty members, as many of you have inquired about them.  Mrs. Belcher’s husband passed away unexpectedly this weekend.  Mrs. Belcher has been an incredible member of our community, and our hearts are breaking for her right now.  The response she has received this week from the students and families of 3B is a true testament to the incredible, faith-filled community Barb has built in her classroom.  She told us how much these thoughtful responses mean to her and that she feels blessed to be at St. Gabe’s, especially during this difficult time.  Please continue to keep Mrs. Belcher and her family in your prayers.  The arrangements for Dave Belcher are as follows:

*Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Kutis on Lemay Ferry.

*Funeral is Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of All Saints

Our second staff update is that Mrs. Guenther began her maternity leave early.  She is doing well and at home, the doctor just wants her to rest until the baby comes.  We will keep you posted on the baby’s arrival.  I know she is greatly appreciative of your prayers and well wishes during this exciting time. 

Today we received a very exciting delivery at school!  We received a shipment of standing desks.  With funds we earned from Scholastic for our book fairs, we were able to purchase at least one standing desk for each classroom teacher that requested one.  In an effort to meet a variety of learning styles and student needs, many schools are putting standing desks in classrooms.  This can be a station that the teacher decides who can work there for the class period/segment of a class, a student can self-select to go work there, or teachers can rotate through each student so all students have a chance to use it.  Some studies show there are health benefits and standing desks can help a student stay engaged.   We are excited to try these out and see how they affect student learning.  Hopefully, we will see great success and look to attain more of them as an option for our students.  Here’s a picture of Alex Endermuhle trying one out today:

 School Improvement Survey

Thank you to the families that have completed the survey for our School Improvement Process.  If you have not taken a few moments to complete the survey yet, please do so now.  So far, 44% of our families have completed it.  We’d like to hear from as many people as possible so we can use your feedback to inform the decisions and plans we make over the next few years. 


We ask that the inventory be completed by Friday, May 12. If you have any questions or cannot access the inventory, please contact Ms. Gintz at lgintz@stgabschool.org   Thank you in advance for taking the time to provide your feedback.  It is extremely beneficial in knowing how we can ensure we are doing our best to develop our students spiritually, emotionally, academically, and socially.  We greatly appreciate your partnership in this mission.

Uniform Fitting

Just Me Apparel will be at school on Monday, May 22 for a School Uniform Fitting. They will be here from 3:00-6:30 p.m. in the school meeting room. There is a flyer in the Wednesday envelopes with more information about this event.


Gabriel Club Registration

Gabriel Club, the after school program for students, is taking registrations for the next school year (2017-2018).   The registration packet can be found on the website (stgabschool.org).  Please scroll down to the after school life to the tab “continue reading,” use the tab of Gabriel Club to scroll down to the registration packet.  Fill out all the forms in the packet and then send it to the school office c/o S. Ann Francis Monedero, Gabriel Club.  Along with the packet, there is a $50 non-refundable fee to be included.   If you have any questions, please contact S. Ann Francis Monedero at 353-1229.

SGAA Fall Registration- Closes May 14th!

Registration for Fall 2017 CLOSES on May 14th!

Soccer Pre-K thru 8th, Volleyball 3rd thru 8th
Note: If registering for the Family Fee please do so first. You will register the family fee under one child. Once you have done that please register for the sport.
For those new to our Parish and have questions as to who is qualified to play sports for St. Gabriel, email your questions to the SGAA at sgaaezrosters@gmail.com.
